When God Speaks

Family,

Have you ever read the book of Job? Could you pause from reading this blog and read with me Job 38:1-18. After reading those verses think about how God spoke to Job.

How does it feel to hear God in the midst of your situation especially when it isn’t  the response you want to hear?  How do you react?  As we have heard time and time again, God’s grace is sure. Even James the brother of Jesus said in James 4:6:  But he gives more grace. Wherefore he said, God resisteth the proud, but gives grace unto the humble.

When God speaks how do you react? As we have seen countless saints in the faith hear God’s voice yet take another route.  In the world we live in today with so many voices out there it is very critical to know the word of God to identify the voice of God. As Christ Jesus said very plainly – in John 8:31 -  If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.  In other words, if you stay in the bible, then you are definitely a follower of Christ Jesus.

As you journey with me through my blogs you will see that I love the word (bible). When you read Job 40: 1-14, you will read of God’s power and wisdom, Job’s response, and then God’s challenge to Job. The part that stood out clearly to me was Job 40:14 “Then I will also confess to you, That your own right hand can save you.” Talk about challenges. God told Job in the midst of the conversation to do as I have done and I will say that you are able to save yourself. We often miss the truth by taking the word out of context, especially when it's hard to digest. Furthermore God spoke early on in the same chapter to Job telling him to “Deck yourself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.” To put another way “ do what I (the Lord) have done, as if we created ourselves.” So, when God speaks we must take heed and listen or as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:27, I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. Let’s adhere to Paul’s instructions and become disciplined to be the example as Christ was to us all.

Be encouraged.

Love your sister in Christ,

Latoya

It's Not Over

Family,  Please forgive my pause in posting. Every year around April, I fall into this habit of wanting to post on social media and update my blog. I am truly a creature of habit and I hope you can relate. I want you to remember social media will not keep you committed to this faith walk but Jesus will. In the meantime, I’ve been working on so many things. Two major ones are ministry (serving) and fellowship (in communication with the people). I have been in the faith full time, around the clock, nonstop work - “Turn Down For What!”All the while, praying, fasting, and watching the power of God save souls, heal hearts, minds, and bodies. I have witnessed miracles performed like a cancer diagnosis turning to nothing. Family, some real things happen when Jesus is at the center of it all. When we have faith (believing in the unseen) you work differently and you go places that many will say, “I am not too sure about this.” This time has reminded me that our gifts do make room for us as ...

Love Until it hurts, Love until it works!

Family,  There is a song by Foreigner called “I Want To Know What Love Is.” I remember asking the Lord the very same question. Then, Christ came into my heart and revealed that in order to know Love (in the form of God), I had to know Sacrifice (in the form of Christ). When I began to discover that it was an act of love that saved  my soul from a place of despair, it was unbelievable. It takes wisdom to know what love is and what love did and continues to do. 1 Corinthians 13 explains it all. But I want to focus on one verse in that book 1 Corinthians 13:8a Love never fails.  Do you ever wonder why Love gets a bad rap? I have heard so many references to love, like it’s blind, it’s mean, it’s rude, it doesn’t exist, or  it’s impossible. However, none of those statements tell the truth about what love is but rather expresses an emotion someone felt after someone said “I love you.” Until I read the Bible and gained insight that God is love (see 1 John 4:8 ), hear...
