Family,
Let us watch and pray always that we may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and stand before the Son of man. ~ Luke 21:36
I think back to scriptures when Jesus told the disciples to “watch and pray” and there is no truth realer than this. During the most intense hour of His life, he asked his disciples to stay awake, look out, and pray. There will be times in our lives when praying or even watching is not important. We will begin to say, “I prayed already. I've been watching for a while and God ain’t moving.”
Let me enlighten you on a story about a prophet who was told to wait for rain to fall. While he was praying, he told his watchmen to Go up now, look toward the sea” here is the story from I Kings 18:41-46 (NKJV) “Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain.” So Ahab went up to eat and drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees, and said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked, and said, “ There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh time, that he said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot, and go down before the rain stops you.’ ” Now it happened in the meantime that the sky became black with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy rain. So Ahab rode away and went to Jezreel. Then the hand of the LORD came upon Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran ahead of Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”
When you understand the power of prayer, you live with hope that God will and God can, and God is able! Say this aloud: The same God that sent Jesus to die, rose Jesus from the dead. That same God is ever present and still performing miracles like He did for Elijah. All I need to do is WATCH and PRAY.
Since we have no idea how the story ends for man let’s take the Bible at face value and operate in the truth of His word. We must be steadfast in prayer, always watching. May the God of all grace who have called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. ~ 1 Peter 5:10
What a glorious day! It's time to rise up and walk.
Love your sister in Christ,
Latoya
